AzuraCast is a self-hosted web radio station and management suite. Installation is simple with Marketplace Apps, and the intuitive web interface makes running a web station easy. After installation, you can be broadcasting within in minutes.
Deploying the AzuraCast Marketplace App
The Linode Marketplace allows you to easily deploy software on a Linode using the Linode Cloud Manager.
Log in to the Cloud Manager and select the Marketplace link from the left navigation menu. This displays the Linode Compute Create page with the Marketplace tab pre-selected.
Under the Select App section, select the app you would like to deploy.
Fill out all required Options for the selected app as well as any desired Advanced Options (which are optional). See the Configuration Options section for details.
Complete the rest of the form as discussed within the Getting Started > Create a Linode.
Click the Create Linode button. Once the Linode has provisioned and has fully powered on, wait for the software installation to complete. If the Linode is powered off or restarted before this time, the software installation will likely fail. To determine if the installation has completed, open the Linode’s Lish console and wait for the system login prompt to appear.
Follow the instructions within the Getting Started After Deployment section.
Software installation should complete within 1-3 minutes after the Linode has finished provisioning.
Configuration Options
For advice on filling out the remaining options on the Create a Linode form, see Getting Started > Create a Linode. That said, some options may be limited or recommended based on this Marketplace App:
- Supported distributions: Debian 10 or Ubuntu 20.04 LTS
- Recommended plan: All plan types and sizes can be used.
Getting Started After Deployment
AzuraCast is now installed and ready to use.
Navigate to the IP address of the Linode in your browser. You can find the IP address for your Linode on the Linode detail page in the Cloud Manager.
The first thing you want to do is create a Super Administrator account that has has system-wide permissions.
Next, AzuraCast prompts you to create a new radio station. Fill out the required fields, then click the Save Changes button at the bottom of the screen to continue.
On the next page you can set other settings including using a custom URL if you have one set up. Learn more about using a custom URL with Linode DNS in our DNS Manager guide. When you are finished, click the Save Changes button at the bottom of the screen to continue.
Your station is now ready. On the following page, you are taken to the control panel, and you are ready to start broadcasting your station.
To manage the station you just created click the Manage button in the Station Overview section. This will open the Station Dashboard for the station you created during setup.
Here you can control your station, add songs, add DJs, take requests, and more.
Software Included
The AzuraCast Marketplace App installs the following software on your Linode:

NoteCurrently, Linode does not manage software and systems updates for Marketplace Apps. It is up to the user to perform routine maintenance on software deployed in this fashion.
